3 Steps to Creating the Best Kitchen Lighting Ambience

Having a perfectly lit kitchen, that provides just the right amount of light, can be done using these tips

What is Recessed Lighting?

Recessed Lights

Recessed, or can, lighting provides all-over lighting for kitchens. Each light should be spaced expertly apart to achieve a soft ambiance. Rule of thumb is to divide the height of the ceiling by 2 and using that number as a spacing guideline (in feet).

What is the difference between can lights and recessed lights?

Task Lighting

Use task lighting to highlight specific areas of the kitchen. For example, cooking surfaces, counters, and tables need a direct light source so you can see what you’re doing. It’s also a good idea to add lighting under cabinets and inside glass cupboards.

What are the types of trims for recessed lighting?

Pendant Lighting

Add some style to the atmosphere with pendant lighting. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors that work together creating the perfect ambiance. Pendants should be hung about 30 inches above work areas, countertops, islands, and tables for extra illumination.
